paint selections from Sherwin-Williams

We were recently invited to collaborate on a story for The Nest about designer’s go-to paint colors. It was an honor to participate and we were thrilled to find out the story was being sponsored by Sherwin-Williams as they have many of our favorites!

Even though we have distinctly different design aesthetics, Rhiannon and I both gravitate toward the same soft base colors for walls in the home. All of the colors we selected work in a wide range of settings and schemes.

Some of our very favorites that work well with many different design styles and in all moods of lighting are Pure White (SW 7005), Sea Salt (SW 6204), Intimate White (SW 6322), Nurture Green (SW 6451) and Light French Gray (SW 0055)...

We are both firm believers that white walls can make a bold statement. Often, people default to color on the walls in order to fill the space, but white makes a statement all its own. Pure White (SW 7005) is a perfect, whole milk white. We love it for walls, trim, cabinetry, furniture. It feels both modern and timeless. It's a perfect white. (And, it is especially lovely when you use it in flat on the walls and semi-gloss on the trim in the same room - such a subtle way to make a statement that everyone notices and loves, even though they aren't sure why;)

Oh, Sea Salt (SW 6204)... this is the go-to color for countless people! And for good reason. Is it gray, blue or green? It is everything. We've used this for both modern brownstones in Brooklyn and farmhouses outside of Austin. Even on the exterior of homes for shutters and front doors, or as a punch for porch ceilings. It is calming and moody in master bedrooms. It is crisp and clean in dining rooms! Sea Salt is truly a home run in any setting.

Rhiannon & I have passed on a love for the perfect pink to our many little girls. It's just in the genes! The need for the perfect pink goes a long way - and this one is equally romantic and crisp on furniture and on walls (or a ceiling - hint hint). THE one & only pink perfection is Intimate White (SW 6322). Don't let the name fool you - this is not at all your standard white. Rather, it is the perfect mix of ballet shoes and cotton candy. It is subtle, ageless and happy

Every home needs a little POP here and there... Whether it is your front door, iron patio furniture, accent furniture in your living room, or your master bedroom headboard - we are crazy for Nurture Green (SW 6451). It gives an instant mood-enhancing boost to any room. It's bright but not offensive, relaxing yet still has punch, and it is the perfect shade borrowed from nature to bring inside your home!

A newer favorite of ours is Light French Gray (SW 0055) - a recent choice for glossy cabinetry in a luxe master bathroom. It is the perfect middle ground between cool and warm gray, and is a beautiful pairing with honed Carrara marble floors. It has such rich pigment that it is also a striking choice for a dining or formal living room.
